“The League Sista’s” History
Joy Kammueller
“A found family group for decades.”
I’m grateful to be part of a little group of found family. The four of us had all worked together at the League of Minnesota Cities in different positions/departments and became great friends, and we are all different ages (kind of like how a family would be), so we coined ourselves, “The League Sista’s!” Even though I moved onto Greene Espel over 22 years ago and two other Sista’s have since retired, which leaves only one Sista still at the League; we still are The League Sista’s! We get together for our birthdays, Christmas, and fun League Sista’s weekend getaways.
About 25 years ago, we created a tradition for our Christmas gatherings where we purchase gifts for each other that are to cost only $1.00 so that our true gift is “spending” time together (and, of course, being shocked at how creative we each were with finding our dollar gifts, which some are really cool gifts)! The below picture is from a Christmas gathering up in northern Wisconsin where we were bringing the Love to Loveless Lake (which we have been recognized as and known to do on many occasions)!
