Ingredients

  • 1 stick of unsalted butter
  • ¾ c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ¾ c semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ c all-purpose flour
  • c cocoa powder
  • Dash of salt
  • 24 small Daim candies (the kind that come individually wrapped in a large bag at IKEA)
  • c dark chocolate chips, melted, for drizzling

Directions

  1. Unwrap and freeze the Daim candies in advance
  2. Preheat oven to 350 F
  3. Melt butter over medium-low heat until milk solids start to turn golden then remove from heat.
  4. Add the sugar and whisk for about 30 seconds, then let cool.
  5. Mix the remaining dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
  6. Break the Daim candies into pieces with a rolling pin
  7. Put the butter/sugar mixture in a mixing bowl.
  8. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave or on the stove, add the vanilla, and then add all of this to the butter/sugar mixture and whisk well.
  9. Let the mixture cool a bit, then add the eggs one at a time while whisking.
  10. Fold in the dry ingredients first, then fold in of the chopped up Daim candies.
  11. Spread the mixture into a baking pan that’s greased and lined with parchment paper (8×8 works well), then sprinkle another of the Daim candies on top
  12. Bake for about 30 minutes, until a knife comes out clean
  13. Let the brownies cool, then drizzle with the melted dark chocolate and sprinkle with the remaining of the crushed Daim candies (ideally use the bigger Daim pieces for this part)
