A tradition since my college days.”

Every year my mom’s side of the family gets together on Christmas Eve for a smorgasbord style dinner with everyone bringing different dishes. I started to bring my own dish when I was in college and since then I’ve brought baked brie because it’s so easy!

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 round of brie cheese (8-12oz)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Optional filling: jam/preserves, honey, toasted nuts, fresh thyme or rosemary, caramelized onion, roasted garlic

Directions :

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Line baking sheet or pie plate with parchment paper.
  3. Lightly flour work surface and roll puff pastry into about an 11-inch square.
  4. Place brie wheel in center of puff pastry and spready desired optional filling on top of brie.
  5. Fold the corners of the puff pastry over the top of the brie, forming a package. Brush folded sections with beaten egg. Trim excess dough as necessary.
  6. Brush entire outside of wrapped brie with beaten egg. Cut a few shallow slits in top of pastry.
  7. Bake for 25-40 minutes and let cool 10-15 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve with crackers, baguette slices, or fresh fruit.
