“We can reconnect with our roots through food.”

Being far from home can be difficult, but each year my husband and I find comfort in reconnecting with our roots through food. This year, we’re continuing that tradition by making Nigerian chin chin together—now as a family of three and are thrilled to share the recipe with you! Join us and Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 3½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp grated nutmeg
- 1 tsp grated lime zest
- 4 tsp butter
- 1 large egg
- ¾ cup milk
- Oil, for frying
Directions :
- In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, nutmeg, and lime zest
- Add butter to the above batter and mix until well incorporated.
- Then add the milk and egg to the mixture. Keep mixing until a sticky dough ball is formed.
- Place the dough ball on a floured surface and knead, incorporating more flour into the dough as needed until the dough is smooth, elastic, and is no longer sticky.
- Divide the dough in half and place each half on a floured board. Roll each half dough until it shapes out like linguine and then cut into tiny squares.
- Pour around 3 inches of oil in a high-walled frying pan and heat. When the gets oil, pour the shaped dough in it (make sure to be careful so the oil doesn’t splash up).
- Fry the shaped dough until golden and remove using a skimmer.
- Enjoy!
