Baked Brie

“A tradition since my college days.”

Every year my mom’s side of the family gets together on Christmas Eve for a smorgasbord style dinner with everyone bringing different dishes. I started to bring my own dish when I was in college and since then I’ve brought baked brie because it’s so easy!
Ingredients
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 round of brie cheese (8-12oz)
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Optional filling: jam/preserves, honey, toasted nuts, fresh thyme or rosemary, caramelized onion, roasted garlic
Directions :
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Line baking sheet or pie plate with parchment paper.
- Lightly flour work surface and roll puff pastry into about an 11-inch square.
- Place brie wheel in center of puff pastry and spready desired optional filling on top of brie.
- Fold the corners of the puff pastry over the top of the brie, forming a package. Brush folded sections with beaten egg. Trim excess dough as necessary.
- Brush entire outside of wrapped brie with beaten egg. Cut a few shallow slits in top of pastry.
- Bake for 25-40 minutes and let cool 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Serve with crackers, baguette slices, or fresh fruit.
